What can we help with?

So the right crew reviews your project.

No obligation. Your quote sets the scope, the products and any workmanship terms.

Why homeowners and property managers call us

Our Process

How a Paint Toronto job runs

1

Walkthrough and written quote

We measure, check the substrate, and send a scope that names every surface, the coats and the products.

2

Schedule and building access

Dates confirmed, and for condos the certificate of insurance and service elevator booked before the crew arrives.

3

Protect, prep and repair

Contents moved and masked, then filling, sanding, caulking and spot priming. Prep is where the finish is decided.

4

Paint, inspect, walk through

Coats applied to the quoted count, then a walkthrough with you before the final invoice is raised.

What every Paint Toronto job includes

The four things that are in the scope on every project, residential or commercial.

Written scope before work starts

Surfaces named, coats counted, products listed by manufacturer and line, and preparation itemised.

Contents moved and protected

Furniture shifted and wrapped, floors masked wall to wall, fixtures covered or removed. Not an extra line.

Prep priced as its own items

Filling, sanding, caulking and spot priming appear separately, so a low number cannot hide a missing stage.

Terms in writing, job by job

Any workmanship warranty is set out in your written quote, for that substrate and that exposure.

About Paint Toronto

A painting company built around the written scope

Most painting disputes start with a one-line quote. Paint Toronto writes the scope out: which walls, which ceilings, how many coats, which primer, what gets caulked and what gets left alone. That takes longer to produce and it is the reason our crews and our clients rarely disagree about what was agreed. Any workmanship warranty is set out in your written quote, job by job.

Painting a Toronto house is not painting a generic house

Toronto's housing stock splits along a line that changes how a job is priced. Much of the old city, from Leaside and the Danforth through to the west end, was built before 1960, which means plaster and lath rather than drywall. Plaster takes filler differently, cracks along its keys instead of along the tape line, and hides its damage until a sander touches it. A quote written for drywall and applied to plaster runs over.

North of Eglinton and out into the 905, the stock turns to post-war bungalows, sidesplits and then to subdivision two-storeys with double-height foyers. Those bring a different problem: reach. A twenty-foot foyer wall is not more square footage than a bedroom wall, it is scaffold time, and it belongs in the quote as such.

Downtown and along the Yonge corridor the work is mostly condo suites, where the constraint is not the wall at all. It is the building: the certificate of insurance property management wants on file, the service elevator that has to be booked, and the hours the board allows a contractor to be working. We price that access time in rather than discovering it on day one.

Painting prep is most of what you pay for

Across the published Toronto price guides, labour accounts for roughly 70 to 80 percent of a painting invoice. Most of that labour is not rolling paint. It is moving and wrapping contents, masking floors and fixtures, filling nail pops, sanding, caulking the gaps where trim meets wall, and spot priming the repairs so they do not flash through the topcoat.

That is why two quotes for the same rooms can be thousands apart. One of them included the prep and the other one assumed the walls were sound. Our quotes list the prep as line items so you can see which one you are reading.

Paint colour, sheen and Ontario VOC limits

Federal regulations cap the volatile organic compound content of architectural coatings sold in Canada, and the limits are low enough that the modern low-VOC and zero-VOC products most Toronto painters use are the standard rather than an upgrade. That matters most in condos and in occupied homes with children or pets, where airing out a suite for days is not practical.

Sheen does more work than people expect. Flat hides a rough wall and marks easily. Eggshell and matte are the working compromise in living space. Semi-gloss on trim and doors survives cleaning. In a Toronto kitchen or bathroom, where humidity swings hard through July and August, a scrubbable finish on the walls is worth more than the colour choice.

Common questions

Do you charge for an estimate?

No. Estimates are free and come as a written scope. We measure the surfaces, note the substrate and the repairs needed, and send a price that lists the coats and the products by name.

How much does painting cost in Toronto?

Interior work runs roughly $2.50 to $4.50 per square foot of floor area and exterior work roughly $3.00 to $6.00 per square foot of paintable surface, both before HST. A single bedroom is usually $400 to $900. Those are planning ranges taken from published 2026 Toronto price guides, not a quote for your job.

Can you work in a condo with building rules?

Yes. Condo work needs a certificate of insurance filed with property management, a booked service elevator, and work kept inside the hours the building allows. We handle that paperwork before the crew is scheduled.

My ceiling is textured. Can it just be removed?

Not until it is tested. Textured and popcorn ceilings installed before roughly 1990 can contain asbestos, so a sample goes to a lab first. If the result is positive, removal becomes abatement work with its own procedures and its own price.

When is exterior painting possible in Toronto?

Waterborne exterior coatings need surface temperatures above roughly 10 degrees Celsius and a dry window either side of application, which puts the reliable Toronto season between May and mid-October. Booking in late summer or early fall usually costs less than booking at the June peak.

Do you guarantee the work?

Any workmanship warranty is set out in your written quote, job by job. Every project has a different substrate and a different exposure, so we put the terms in writing for that specific job rather than making a blanket promise.
